The Rock Unlikely For SummerSlam 2013
It was reported last year that The Rock was keen on wrestling a lot more in 2013. He was initially going to wrestle at SummerSlam, but this may not be the case right now.
Reportedly, the original plan for this year’s SummerSlam was for Rock to face off against Brock Lesnar. People thought WWE was planning the match for WrestleMania XXX, but it was scheduled in for SummerSlam 2013 instead. Their first match was at SummerSlam 2002 and was a highly entertaining encounter.
The seeds for the match taking place were going to take place on the Raw after WrestleMania 29. Rock was to go out and address his loss to John Cena the night before. The segment was going to end with Lesnar getting angry and laying out Rock in the middle of the ring.
Unfortunately, this never occurred as Rock suffered multiple injuries during his match with Cena and he went home instead. Rock took extra precautions not to injure himself further since he wanted to be 100 percent fit enough to film his upcoming Hercules movie.
The reason he’s unlikely to wrestle at SummerSlam is because of the Hercules shooting schedule itself. Filming takes place from May all the way until October. Not to mention, locations for the shoot will be in over in Europe, which will give Rock absolutely no time to prepare or promote a SummerSlam match in August.
WWE still has Lesnar available, although they will need to find him a new opponent. They could always delay Rock vs. Lesnar for WrestleMania XXX.
