The Rock wished a happy birthday to his cousin Roman Reigns last week. He tweeted that Reigns will be a future WWE Champion one day.

Reigns just started wrestling a few years ago after following a brief stint playing in the NFL. Because of his size and famous wrestling family, the WWE were kind enough to sign him to a contract back in 2010 and Reigns has never looked back since.

Reigns did not have the wrestling background like his “Shield” teammates do. Both Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins were wrestling in the independent scene for many years prior to joining the WWE. The main reason Reigns is so liked is because Triple H is a fan of him.

When Reigns was introduced as part of The Shield, he was obviously the most inexperienced of the group. It’s mainly his impressive physique that caught the attention of Triple H and others. After all, Vince McMahon likes his top tier talent to look “larger than life.”

I remember being impressed by Reigns’ look back when he was wrestling in NXT, but I wasn’t sure if he’d be ready for the big leagues so soon. Reigns has impressed me so far after being part of the Shield for the past six months or so. He’s a very good powerhouse type of guy, although his microphone skills still need some improvement.

In my opinion, Reigns would make a great WWE Champion one day. He has the backing of high profile people like Rock and Triple H on his side. Not to mention, he looks like a credible champion due to his physique. It will be a shame if Reigns never becomes the WWE Champion in his wrestling career. If someone like The Miz can become champion, then I’m sure Reigns will eventually win the title, too.
