It’s Time For The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels To Return To WWE

Shawn Michaels needs to come back to the WWE.

The company needs him. The fans need him. The other wrestlers need him. HBK retired in 2010 and promised that he would not come back. He needs to break his promise. The WWE badly needs a great performer on the roster. Sure, the WWE has CM Punk, Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton. While those guys are great, none has the X-Factor that Michaels had.

Michaels couldn’t have a bad match if he tried. He made a guy like Shelton Benjamin look like a future world champion. From Scott Hall and Kevin Nash to Sid Justice and John Cena, Michaels made average wrestlers look great and great wrestlers look phenomenal.

When HBK performed inside the cage, it was like listening to a great Beatles song. He told a story every time he stepped in the ring. He was easy to watch. Nobody took a beating like Michaels, and then came back to beat his opponent up.

The WWE still has a great product and great performers. Guys like Punk, Bryan, Orton, Dolph Ziggler and Brock Lesnar consistently have good matches. Michaels though was the Michael Jordan, Kurt Warner and Wayne Gretzky of wrestling. He was quite simply the best.

Michaels retired to spend more time with his family. It was the second time he had retired. Michaels stepped away in 1998 after a back injury forced him out. He came back four years later and proceeded to have the best matches on the card.

When he stepped away, he said he wanted to keep his word to the Undertaker and not return for one more match. It’s time for Michaels to let it go. The Undertaker will get over it. The other wrestlers will get over it. The fans want it. Michaels still has some great fights in him. He could wrestle some classics with Punk and Bryan, and maybe even carry Lesnar to the greatest match of his career.

The WWE needs its MVP back.
