Daniel Bryan was at the peak of his career earlier this year. He was putting out the best match on the card almost every single night. Since winning the WWE Title from John Cena at last year’s Summerslam, it was a constant struggle for him to reclaim the gold. That was until Wrestlemania, when Bryan started the night by taking out Triple H, then won a triple-threat match against Batista and Randy Orton to win the WWE World Heavyweight Title.
Then Bryan announced he would have to relinquish the titles due to injury. Stephanie McMahon made the announcement on Monday Night Raw on June 9 of this year that she would be taking the titles off of him and putting them up for grabs in the Money in the Bank ladder match.
Since then, the rumors have been swirling about when we would see, or if we would ever see, Bryan back in a WWE ring. He has had setbacks, but then he has had breakthroughs as well. There was talks of a second neck surgery, then some were saying he needed Tommy John Surgery. The rumors in the pro wrestling world are always interesting, since it is hard to debunk them without the WWE acknowledging the facts.
So when should the WWE Universe expect to see Bryan back in the ring?
There are three scenarios that could be in play. The first scenario is to make him return the second he is ready. He is said to be getting healthier by the day, and he could be available to return around Survivor Series. This would be an ideal scenario for WWE because they are currently without Roman Reigns and Wade Barrett and just lost Chris Jericho and Rob Van Dam due to their part-time contracts ending. The WWE is so desperate for talent that they have gone back to their old adage of putting Cena back into the title picture.
The second scenario is what many are calling for; Bryan returning at the Rumble. After the debacle that was the 2014 Royal Rumble, it would be a big deal to have him return and win it this year. Is that scenario too predictable? Will that hurt his return if it happens when everyone in the world expects it?
The final scenario is to make everyone wait. That gives two positives. For one, then you can make him return whenever you want, and it will be one of the biggest reactions you ever heard. Secondly, that gives him extra time to heal his neck. He could return as a member of the Elimination Chamber (where he could win a spot in the main event), or they could wait all the way to Wrestlemania.
I think the WWE will bring Bryan back soon. His wife is currently embroiled in top of the card storyline involving the Bella Twins and the Divas Title. Bringing him in would be an added element to that if they didn’t want him to have Brock Lesnar as his first opponent. They would still get an amazing surprise pop. With the amount of superstars the company has lost in the last few weeks, it is imperative that they get some back. Why not the biggest star from Wrestlemania XXX?
