There were plenty of questions surrounding the decision behind the Miami Dolphins and their decision not to play cornerback Vontae Davis during Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs considering his hamstring injury didn’t seem that bad. Apparently, it seems like there’s an even better reason other than the hamstring injury–such as a fight between Davis and wide receiver Brandon Marshall.
According to Jeff Darlington of NFL.com, there was a recent confrontation between Davis and Marshall–although he notes that the two teammates never became physical with one another. However, things got so bad, Darlington’s source claims that Davis was ready to “rip his head off” when describing the incident with Marshall.
From Darlington’s article:
Davis had to be restrained after Marshall started “talking (trash) and crossed the line,” a source with knowledge of the altercation said. The source would not provide specific details of what set off Davis.
“Vontae was about to rip his head off,” the source said.
The altercation never became physical, and neither player threw any punches.
The reason behind the confrontation is unknown, but this is the last thing a team like the winless Dolphins needs heading into their Week 9 game against the Chiefs. Whatever the reasoning behind the incident, I’m sure we’ll hear more about what happened over the next few days.
