The Super Bowl is the big event on the annual American sports calendar. It is the ultimate sports vacation that features commercials and entertainment to bring together a diverse American culture for one day out of the year. It is highlighted as the best football game of the year and is full of picturesque moments.

This year those picturesque moments will take place inside a white dome, with outside shots of cold Indianapolis, Indiana. No offense to Indiana, but the Super Bowl is an event that everyone likes to imagine attending. To buy into the illusion that is the Super Bowl experience, the ideal is of a warm night in Florida, along the Gulf Coast, in California or Hawaii.

These areas allow for a scenic representation of the game. A warm night sky as the ball sails through the air is a lot more romantic than seeing the ball against the backdrop of a white ceiling. The dome takes away the fun weather games during the regular season and then destroys the atmosphere of the Super Bowl. Football is supposed to be played outside.

With the Super Bowl being held in New York in 2014 that could ruin the big game even more than the Dome. If it’s 20 degrees and snows, will the Super Bowl be a great game? Probably not. The Super Bowl was created to showcase the talents of the top two top teams in two different leagues. The best game should be played in the best possible conditions.

Denver Post Columnist Mark Kiszla wrote a piece in the Denver Post today highlighting a possible bid by Denver for a Super Bowl. Despite popular opinion, this time of year can be fairly nice in Denver. The high for today is 45 degrees and it’s been about that temperature all week. Of course its supposed to snow tomorrow, but it will warm up again.

If New York is allowed to have a Super Bowl, anyone should be able to host the game. So why not Denver?  Then if that works, maybe Buffalo could be next. There is even a rumor that London could host a Super Bowl. Would we have to watch that game at 6 P.M. Greenwich Mean Time (which is 1 P.M. Eastern Standard Time) as well?

Listen Roger Goddell, you may be the best Commissioner of the four major sports, but save an American tradition. New Englanders migrate to Florida and other southern areas every winter. Make sure that the Super Bowl does the same.
