Report: Potential No. 1 Pick Andrew Luck Will Not Throw at NFL Combine This Weekend

There’s been plenty of speculation this week on whether or not former Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck would throw at the NFL Combine this week–especially with all of the rumors regarding the Indianapolis Colts and how they didn’t want him throwing at the event. Even if those reports weren’t true, it appears the Colts have nothing to worry about after Luck made the decision not to throw.

According to Marc Sessler of NFL.com, the Stanford standout won’t be throwing at this weekend’s events and will hold off until his Pro Day to do so. With the No. 1 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Indianapolis is expected to select Luck as their quarterback of the future considering the organization is unsure whether or not Peyton Manning will return for a 15th season due to a neck injury that has taken longer to heal than originally expected.

Here’s what Luck had to say courtesy of Sessler.

“I was told earlier that there was something out there that teams had advised me not to throw, and that was not the case,” Luck told reporters Friday.

“I made the decision by myself. I bounced it off my agent and my father (Oliver Luck) and I felt like it was in my best interest to wait until (Stanford’s) Pro Day. So, we’ll go from there.”

Even though he’s made the decision not to throw in front of scouts this weekend, this should have no impact on Luck being the top overall pick in this year’s draft. The Colts have seemed to have their hearts set on selecting Luck for a few months now and they already know what he’s capable of as a football player–so there’s no reason to make a big deal out of this decision.
