Today marked the day when NFL rosters got trimmed and a number of roster decisions became necessary. For the San Francisco 49ers, the team cut 12 players to reach the mandated 75-player mark.
Among the 49ers’ cuts: FB Cameron Bell, OLB Kourtnei Brown, DL Patrick Butrym, WR Ben Hannula, WR Joe Hastings, DL Matthew Masifilo, DB Cory Nelms, DB Deante’ Purvis, TE Joe Sawyer, OL Jason Slowey, K Giorgio Tavecchio and WR Brian Tyms.
One surprising name that wasn’t on the list was third-year cornerback Tramaine Brock, who did not look good on Sunday against the Denver Broncos as he got beat several times and missed a tackle on Jacob Tamme. Plus, that wasn’t the only game this preseason he hasn’t looked good in coverage.
In his first two years with the 49ers, he has played in 14 games while recording seven tackles, four passes defended and two interceptions.
One surprise cut was Slowey, a sixth-round pick out of Western Oregon. He suffered a leg injury early in camp and with added depth on the offensive line, he slid down the depth chart.
Another surprise was Tyms, a tall wide receiver out of Florida A&M. He looked good in limited action in the preseason. The play of Nathan Palmer and Chris Owusu, however, made keeping him difficult.
Placed on the reserve/physically unable to perform list was OLB Darius Fleming and placed on the reserve/Non-football injury list was RB Jewel Hampton.
Ted Ginn Jr might not be ready for week one of the regular season against the Green Bay Packers after sustaining an ankle injury against the Broncos and Kyle Williams will take his place as the 49ers return man for the time being.

I disagree,T Brock has been a steady player,you or no one else can stop all pass’s coming your way,the starters were getting beat so if you want to look at it that way,the man has talent and he will get better.
