The St Louis Rams have announced that the team has released tight end Schuylar Oordt and receivers Joe West and Jared Jenkins in an effort to cut the roster down to 80 players by Tuesday.

Schuylar Oordt is 6’6″, 261 lb Northern Iowa-product who was hoping to fit into the mix at tight end.  He didn’t provide much in terms of blocking or pass-catching skills however, and the Rams ultimately decided to carry only one rookie tight end on the roster, that being second-round selection Lance Kendricks.

Joe West was a guy the Rams claimed off of waivers awhile back when they struggled with depth at receiver, but the UTEP-product was never really considered to be someone who could crack the 53-man roster.  So far in the preseason, West had recorded one catch for eleven yards.

Jared Jenkins went undrafted this year and when the Rams picked up, it was really only for preseason depth.  Jenkins didn’t record any statistics in the preseason.

The St Louis Rams’ current roster now sits at 86, with the team needing to get down to 80 by Tuesday.  Check back for updates.
