Well, it wasn’t a very pretty game.  Both teams had their fair share of mistakes and miscues.  Get ready for a ton of “Tony Romo’s a hero” talk over the next week.

Many national media folks, including the guys who called the game tonight (Mike Tirico, Ron Jaworski, John Gruden), are going to talk all week about how Tony Romo “battled” and “did so much with so little.”  Give me a break.  The Cowboys were missing one offensive player (Miles Austin).  Some may say “Hey, Felix Jones was hurt too!”  Well guess what?  He’s done jack (you know what) all season, and he still made a few plays tonight so how big of a loss was he?  The Cowboys played a terrible game.  They were disorganized, sloppy, and undisciplined.

Unfortunately, the Redskins were slightly worse in all of the above.

I’ll do my weekly “Good, Bad, and The Ugly” tomorrow, but here are some initial impressions from tonight’s game:

- Rex Grossman played poorly.  He threw a costly interception and fumbled the ball twice (one of which wasn’t called, but it was a fumble).

- DeAngelo Hall got beat like a drum tonight.  More to come tomorrow…

- The run game wasn’t leaned on as much as it should have been.

- Jim Haslett and the defense didn’t bring nearly enough pressure on Tony Romo.

- Fred Davis got shut down.

- Chris Cooley has lost a step, in a major way.

- (Bright side) Laron Landry is back.

- (No more bright side) Where are our number three and four receivers?  Santana Moss and Jabar Gaffney played pretty well, but what about Anthony Armstrong, Terrence Austin, Donte’ Stalworth, and Leonard Hankerson?

- Brandon Banks was a non-factor tonight.

- Rookie Ryan Kerrigan was a non-factor tonight.

- Darrel Young (fullback) being out was HUGE!!!!  Chris Cooley at fullback?  Really?!  Where was Mike Sellers?

- The offensive line, specifically the tackles (Trent Williams and Jammal Brown) were suspect at best.

- The red zone offense was terrible again – too many field goals, another costly interception.

Losing to the Cowboys in Dallas by only two points isn’t that bad, but the Redskins left a lot on the field tonight.  And now, as I said above, we have to listen to another week of Tony Romo praising.  More to come tomorrow.
