Earlier this week, Colts Owner, Jim Irsay tweeted that RG3 denied a request for a private workout with the team brass. Indianapolis holds the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, and is expected to select Stanford QB, Andrew Luck. Therefore, any interest they’ve shown with RG3 at this point, seems to mean absolutely nothing.

When Washington traded up to the 2nd overall slot, Redskins Nation became excited about the potential arrival of Robert Griffin III. As the 2012 NFL Draft approaches, reality is sinking in, and it’s almost surreal – the Washington Redskins finally have a franchise Quarterback.

Kyle Shanahan spending quality time with RG3 before the draft is music to my ears. This gives them both a chance to build a rapport with one another and work on the playbook. Baby Shanahan has received a lot of flack from Redskins Nation over the past two seasons for numerous reasons. In 2010, he was blamed for the epic failure we call the “Donovan McNabb experiment.”   In 2011, some felt he didn’t dial up enough run plays and was too predictable with his play-calls. Then you have the “Mike vs Kyle QB dilemma” that was speculated by fans and media. Kyle seemed to be more fond of Rex Grossman than he was of John Beck, the guy Mike Shanahan sung high praises to.

I defended Kyle a lot, as I felt the talent was limited, and he didn’t have a stable Quarterback situation. Well now, Kyle has a chance to really make a name for himself with RG3. This marriage has the makings of something great. Kyle must take advantage of this situation and help make RG3 into one of the upper-echelon Quarterbacks in the NFL. Kyle had great success in Houston as the Texans Offensive Coordinator, however, some argue his involvement was a tad overrated. Here’s Kyle’s chance to prove himself worthy, and become more respected and beloved in Washington, DC.
