NCAA Tournament Sweet 16: Michigan State vs. Louisville Preview
Greg Bartram-US PRESSWIRE

Game:  (1) Michigan State – (4) Louisville 3/22 7:47 PM ET

Bracket:  West Region

Game Analysis:  The Spartans have remained healthy and quiet through the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament.  They have outscored their competition by a combined score of 154-128 and will be a severe test for Louisville.  The hardest challenge that Stanford will face is how they will be able to contain forward, Draymond Green.  The senior has really stepped up this year, as he is averaging a team leading 16.1 points and 10.4 rebounds.  The Cardinals are a very disciplined team under head coach Johnny Dawkins and make their money in the paint.  Stanford is averaging 38.2 rebounds per contest, which is good for 27th in the nation, as they are lead by center Gorgui Dieng.

Matchup to Watch:  C Adreian Payne, Michigan State vs. C Gorgui Dieng, Louisville – Payne is getting more and more minutes for the Spartans as the season goes on.  The sophomore posted 7 boards last game in only 25 minutes, but will have a very tough matchup.  Payne will be matched up with Dieng, who is one of the most dominant rebounders in the entire nation.  Dieng is posting over 9 rebounds per game and at 6-feet-11 he is almost impossible to post up in the paint.  The two big men will be banging around all game and is certainly worth keeping an eye on throughout the game.

Matchup to Watch:  PG Keith Appling, Michigan State vs. PG Peyton Siva, Louisville – Appling has stepped up to be an amazing compliment to star forward Draymond Green.  Appling has averaged less than 15 points per game in the tournament and his speed will be very dangerous for Siva to contain.  Siva is amazing at seeing the floor and is one of the best distributing point guards in the nation at 5.5 assists per game.  These two will be controlling the pace of the game all day and could easily combine to score over 40 points.

Prediction:  Michigan State 76 – Louisville 70
