Indiana Basketball Makes offer to Eron Gordon-Younger Brother of New Orleans Hornets Eric Gordon
It is very rare that a college will start looking at a player before their junior year of high school. So what is it about this 14-year old that makes him so special? He is Eric Gordon’s younger brother. Eric Gordon is currently on the NBA roster for the New Orleans Hornets.
Indiana has made an offer to Eron Gordon, in hopes that he will follow in the footsteps of his older brother and attend Indiana University. The thing is, he isn’t even in high school yet! What has to go through the minds of a college to offer a 14-year old an offer to attend the university? What if he isn’t as productive as his brother? After all-Eric only played one year at IU.
According to Eric Gordon Sr., the father of both talented players said that Eron will be taking an unofficial visit to Purdue over the weekend and may be offered another scholarship there. These are not the only two teams in the mix though, according to reports by Indystar.com, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Xaivier and Wisconsin have all started to recruit him.
Gordon told Indystar.com, “I don’t pay much mind to (expectations), I just play as hard as I can and hope I can be even better.”
Considering there is a pretty good chance that he will be in the Big Ten next year brings me back to what Indiana was able to accomplish this year in getting back to the dance that they have for so long missed. Could this feisty new blood be a token to success for Indiana? Or will he turn his back on his brother’s Alma Mater and choose his own route?
I can say one thing, if the offers are coming in now; he has plenty of time to decide. He is wasting no time by competing in numerous tournaments like the IndyBall.com Shootout over the weekend. He plans to attend North Central high school as a freshman next year.
