Osi Umenyiora Fined $20,000 For Missing Media Session
New York Giants defensive linemen Osi Umenyiora was fined $20,000 by the NFL for missing a media session at the Super Bowl.
Umenyiora missed a mandatory interview with the media Wednesday morning, something the NFL frowns upon. The league fined him two hours after the incident. The reason for the absence was an apparent misunderstanding of the schedule.
“I misunderstood the schedule,” he said. “It won’t happen again, and I will be at tomorrow’s media session and available after the game.”
Umenyiora is still expected to play in Sunday’s game despite the fine.
The Giants will need to have all pass rushers healthy and ready come game time as it is by far their biggest advantage. Everyone knows that if Tom Brady has time to sit back in the pocket he will pick the secondary a part.
