Ok, so the American Basketball Association probably doesn’t have the highest level of play in the minor leagues that feed into the NBA.

That distinction, without doubt, would go to the NBA’s own D-League.

However, when a team scores 211 points to break the professional basketball scoring record for one team, in one game, something’s going right.

Last night in Jacksonvile, Florida, the Jacksonville Giants defeated the Columbus Riverballers 211-84, breaking their own record for most points scored by a team in a professional basketball game (206). The NBA regulation record is 173, and the regulation-plus record is held by the Denver Nuggets who scored 186 points in a three-overtime game against the Detroit Pistons on December 13, 1983.

Was this just poor defense, good offense, or both? Who knows really?

I do know that scoring 211 points in a regulation game is a feat, regardless of level.

Wow.

H/T to Complex for the vid and story.
