As a matter of principle, I really try not to dog too much on Texas A&M University, after all many of my good friends went there, and I spent a fair amount of time in College Station during my, um, formative years.

But you know, sometimes they just make it too damn easy.

Aggieland is overjoyed about its new conference home, the SEC, and has made a point to interject this affiliation into all of its branded material since the formal announcement of their departure from the Big 12 and move to the SEC was announced last summer.

The shirt you see above is just one more example of this new SEC push, the problem is there are two glaring mistakes.

Without forcing you to examine the map on the shirt too closely, I’ll lay it out for you:

  • Given that Texas A&M is in the state of Texas, Texas should likely be included in the map of the SEC
  • North Carolina is a part of the map on this shirt. There are no schools from North Carolina in the SEC.

I know, details, details.

Maybe going forward, those in charge of the Aggies’ new SEC-branded merchandise should take some time to think about what they are pushing out for their fans to wear. As it is, A&M has a hard time shedding it’s reputation among other schools who tend to turn their nose down at College Station.

The Aggies would be best served to double-check stuff like this in the future.

They’re going to have a hard enough time on the fields of play in the SEC as it is– no reason to make it worse.
