Jose Diaz does not look like a guy who should ever be attempting a stolen base.  First off, he is a relief pitcher.  Second off, he is a pitcher that weighs 350 pounds.  Yes, he’s the size of your average defensive lineman.  However, that does not mean that stealing third base is out of the question.

Yes, Diaz managed to steal third base, much to the surprise of everyone involved.  It is even funnier because the stolen base led to an insurance run for his team.  That is what I can a great idea.

This was all a result of Diaz ending up with his second ever at bat.  Putting the ball in play can lead to good things as Diaz managed to force a two base error during his at bat.

The crowd laughed even more when Diaz made contact, though they did not laugh at 1B Votto, who went to his left to make the play on Diaz’s grounder, and bobbled it. Votto still had time, but he rushed his throw to his pitcher who was covering first base. The throw sailed wide, and Diaz raced to second base on the 2-base error.

I won’t lie to you, this could be the best moment in baseball this year.  You can keep your Billy Hamilton and his steals record, I’ll take the giant relief pitcher swiping third base like he does it every day.  Now that is why people should go to minor league games.
