Charles Barkley Thinks NBA Could Send Anthony Davis To Brooklyn
Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE

Charles Barkley has never been afraid to speak his mind.  In a recent interview, Barkley believes that the NBA may attempt to rig the draft lottery so that Anthony Davis becomes a member of the Brooklyn/New Jersey Nets.

I’m going to be very leery if Anthony Davis ends up in Brooklyn. You know, I’m going to be very leery because I know the NBA has a lot riding on that new arena, especially if Deron Williams leaves New Jersey. They didn’t get Dwight Howard. I’m going to be very leery if New Jersey gets that number one pick.”

That is certainly an interesting stance to take.  There have always been whispers that the NBA Draft lottery has been rigged.  Three examples pop to my mind right away.  You could argue that Patrick Ewing to the New York Knicks, LeBron James to the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Derrick Rose to the Chicago Bulls all had outside influences.  Ewing, because the Knicks needed a star player and Rose/James because they were the hometown kids.

I do not believe that NBA rigs the lottery, but who knows?  David Stern has done some sneaky things in his time.  Rigging the lottery to put a new star in the Brooklyn market is not out of the realm of possibility.

Of course, Barkley is a conspiracy guy.  He is not afraid to say stuff, even if it might not be true.  We will have to watch the lottery closely.  More than likely, Davis becomes a member of the Charlotte Bobcats and we never hear of this again.
