Trent Richardson Fantasy Football Week 11 Projection

Trent Richardson Week 11 Fantasy projection

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

The Indianapolis Colts take on the New England Patriots in a Sunday Night matchup this week. Both teams are coming into this game with momentum, each of them being in first place in their respective divisions and on pace for playoff berths. I foresee this being a hard-fought battle between two elite NFL teams.

Colts RB Trent Richardson has been an interesting fantasy prospect this season. His numbers have been rather inconsistent, and you definitely can’t depend on him week-to-week. But there is a part of me that still wants to give him the benefit of the doubt because I truly believe he is a talented running back just trying to find his groove and identity with his new team. This is especially hard with RB Ahmad Bradshaw receiving a large amount of carries and receptions in each game as well.

This week, Richardson will be facing a Patriots defense that is only ranked 22nd in the league against the run, giving up an average of 120 yards per game to opposing running backs. This means Richardson has some potential in this game, but then again, it also depends on how the carries are split between him and Bradshaw.

The advice I would give to fantasy football owners is beware. Richardson is a risky start this week, but to fill a hole in your lineup because of a bye, he may be a viable option; but only if you’re desperate.

Projection: I don’t believe Richardson will find the end zone against the Patriots.  He will gain 53 yards rushing and 15 yards receiving, only giving owners in standard scoring leagues 6 points this week.
