For the Los Angeles Kings, That was Quick
Kirby Lee- US PRESSWIRE

The Kings are one win away from winning their second playoff series this year.. As the eighth seed, they knocked off the top ranked Vancouver Canucks and have now moved on to demolishing the St. Louis Blues. If the Kings finish the series with a sweep on Sunday in L.A., the Kings will have needed just nine games out of a potential 14 to advance.

King’s goalie Jonathan Quick is the major reason for the Kings’ success. Quick has a goals against average of 1.62 per game and a .948 save percentage. That means he is saving almost ninety-five percent of the shots he has faced.

The Kings were fighting for their playoff lives to end the season, but have responded well despite the low seeding. They have spread their offense around, which has benefited the team. They are averaging four goals a game in the Blues series to St. Louis’ 1.67. The Kings best players have really stepped up for the team. Dustin Brown has nine points , while Mike Richards and Anze Kopitar have eight.

For the Blues, they cannot seem to find their top scorers. Goalie Brian Elliott has not been able to match Quick’s intensity in the other net. Elliott was not the starting goalie heading into the playoffs, but took over for an injured Jarslov Halak. Halak is not expected to return in this series.

The Kings would be the surprise of the playoffs if they made it to the Western Conference finals. If they do, they will face the number three seed Phoenix Coyotes or the number four seed Nashville Predators. Right now, the Kings are the team to beat.
