The Jaguars are continuing to take advantage of the room the have under the salary cap by locking up some of their young talent.

Vito Stellino of The Florida Times-Union is reporting that the Jaguars have agreed to a contract extension with third year wide receiver Mike Thomas.

The extension prevents Thomas from becoming a free agent after the 2012 season and will keep him in Jacksonville through the 2015 season.

Of all of the young wide receiver that Jaguars general manager Gene Smith has brought in over the past three seasons, Thomas is the only one who has made a significant impact and has firmly entrenched himself as a starter on the Jaguars offense.

Thomas has caught 134 passes for 1,485 yards and 6 touchdowns since being drafted in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft.
