Day three of the Rant Sports Preseason All American Team as we continue to feature the offensive side of the football.  Today, we take a look at our All American wide receivers:  Robert Woods, Sammy Watkins, and Marquess Wilson.

Robert Woods gives USC one of the top wideouts in the country.  Woods made people learn his name in 2011 as he had a great year catching passes from quarterback Matt Barkley.  Woods had 111 receptions for 1,292 yards and 15 touchdowns.  He also led the Pac-12 in yards per reception with 9.3.  He will be looking to improve on those numbers in 2012, as USC is among the top teams expected to compete for the BCS Title.

Sammy Watkins burst onto the college football scene in 2011 as a true freshman.  Watkins electrified ACC crowds with his speed and explosive play.  He was third in the ACC in receptions with 82 for 1,219 yards and an amazing 12 touchdowns.  He also averaged 14.2 yards per reception. Watkins will look to help Clemson, as they go for another ACC Title.  Watkins did have a small legal issue after spring practice as he was arrested for marijuana possession.

Marquess Wilson has to be excited for 2012, as he now gets to play in Mike Leach‘s Air Raid system.  Wilson led the Pac-12 in receiving yards with 1,388.  Wilson also scored 12 touchdowns.  Expect Wilson to be even more of a factor for the Cougars in the coming months, as Mike Leach will find ways to get him the ball.  The Cougars return seven starters on offense, and although they’re learning a new system, wouldn’t be surprised to see them compete much better than previous years.

Honorable Mention:

Keenan Allen:  Returns to Cal after putting up 98 receptions for 1,343 yards and six touchdowns in 2011.  Teams up with his brother, quarterback Zach Maynard, and running back Isi Sofele to give the Golden Bears an explosive trio of talent.

Tavon Austin:  Electric football player whenever he touches the football.  Austin is a weapon on special teams as well.  He returns to West Virginia and will lead the Mountaineers charge into the Big-12 in 2012.  Austin really stepped on the big stage last season as he had over 100 receptions for 1,186 yards and eight touchdowns.
