Kyle Kendrick Has Been A Rare Bright Spot for Philadelphia Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies have had their struggles this year. From poor hitting to poor pitching, they have disappointed thus far.

But surprisingly, Kyle Kendrick has not been one of the struggles. He has been one of the highlights of a flailing pitching staff so far, and will look to find his fourth win of the season against the San Francisco Giants.

So far this season, Kendrick has found early-season success. He leads the starting pitching with a 2.43 ERA and is 3-1 on the season. In addition to his low ERA, Kendrick has struck out 29 batters and has a 1.13 WHIP. His season got off to a rocky start, but he has since settled into a nice groove.

Kendrick has pitched at least seven innings in three of his last four starts. Many Phillies fans are quick to jump on Kendrick, but he has given them no reason to do so as the Phillies not failing with him on the mound. Right now he is on a two-game win streak, and the Phillies are looking for their second win against San Francisco.

It is surprising that Kendrick has been more successful this season than Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee, and Cole Hamels. Hopefully for the Phillies, Kendrick will continue his recent season success this season and the team can find winning ways on their west coast swing.

Philadelphia could really use another win tonight, and if Kendrick’s recent outings are any indication, then both he and the team should be able to find it against the Giants.
