Glen Davis’ Future With Orlando Magic Remains Uncertain

Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

One would think that Glen Davis would prefer being with the Orlando Magic next NBA season.

Maybe he will be back with the Magic. After all, Davis has indicated he wants to stay in Orlando.

The Magic might be tempted to trade him to a contender and get some good talent in return. But the Magic has to keep in mind how valuable Davis was when he was healthy, and how devastating it was when he was out of the lineup.

At one time during the 2012-13 season, the Magic were 12-13 and on a four-game winning streak. Granted, it was nothing like the Dwight Howard days, but Davis was helping the Magic get the job done.

Then Davis separated his left shoulder and everyone knows what happened after that. After coming back from the shoulder injury, he broke a bone in the outside of his own foot and  he’s been rehabbing the last four months.

In Orlando’s last 57 games. They won only eight times. There were other factors besides Davis’ injury, but that was actually a back-breaker the team never recovered from this season. He needs to come back healthy and ready to have another big season with the Magic. The Magic have him signed for two more seasons but Davis might go the contentment of playing for a winner, if someone wants to invest in him.

Davis is an incredible talent. He topped the team in scoring 10 times and in rebounding 11 games and scored in double figures 29 of his 34 games in which he saw action. On eight occasions, he scored more than 20 points. He has also rebounded in double-figures or higher 10 times.
