The Husker defense was getting rolled by the Buckeye offense all night long. The Ohio State offense, one of the worst statistically in the country. Running, all over Nebraska, in Lincoln! For crying out loud, this was an absolute shame! To keep it simple, Husker fans were less than pleased, and there was no reason to disagree.

The third quarter rolled around, and much was the same. Then, Lavonte David got the entire team rolling. He stripped Braxton Miller, as he was falling to the ground, and then the defense decided to get things going. They started making Miller uncomfortable, and then Bauserman after Miller was forced out of the game with an apparent lower leg injury.

Lavonte David finished with 13 tackles, 1 for loss, a forced fumble, and was an absolute maniac all over the field. This is the Lavonte David of last year, and what this defense needs. He needs to continue his high octane, high energy play. This defense is going to need him being a wrecking ball.

Props also need to go out to Stanley Jean-Baptiste for his play. At 6-3, 220 lbs, he has the length, speed, and physicality to match up with almost any receiver in the nation. Jean-Baptiste also just moved from receiver to corner only a few weeks ago, and though he made a few mistakes, I think he played quite solid. He also made a great play on a deep ball thrown by Bauserman, and came away with an interception.

Jared Crick was in and out, he just has not been the same player as last year. I think the concussion-like symptoms have had something to do with this, and Crick may have re-aggrivated it.

As for the rest of the defense, the rest of them played a solid second half. They held the Buckeyes in check, and made them uncomfortable. The defense has started to get it back, and they need to continue that trend.
