Minnesota Vikings P Chris Kluwe Candid as Always on Replacement Refs

If you’re familiar with Chris Kluwe‘s off the field work (his quotes), you know that he rarely disappoints. The outspoken Minnesota Vikings punter always leaves me chuckling on Twitter.

Well, he recently had this to say about the replacement referees:

“The replacement refs are bad. There’s no way around it. None! Whether it’s the pressure of live television on the sport’s largest stage, or just an inability to do the job, these guys are making football increasingly painful to watch as a player, and I’m certain it’s just as frustrating for the fans. It’s like watching a Lamborghini roll around on eight-inch spare tires. Not good.”

I completely agree with Kluwe. There is no way around it, the replacement refs are really that bad.

If fans think games were long before before this season, just wait…

Now in fairness to the replacement refs, they are being thrown into the fire. Anyone who thinks being an NFL referee is easy, is sorely mistaken. A professional referee of any kind has a difficult job, but in terms of pressure, nothing compares to a football ref.

When an NFL game is on, America is watching, which is probably the main reason for all the flub-ups. It’s only bound to get worse too, as players start to care, and begin yelling in ears of these replacements.

So sorry replacement refs, you are no good. I feel for you, but Kluwe is spot on. Everyone involved needs the real refs back, and we can only hope opening week will help illustrate how bad this situation is going to get.
