With the 9th Overall Pick, the New York Jets Select Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama

With the ninth overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the New York Jets have selected Dee Milliner, cornerback out of Alabama. The Jets had a mountain of problems last year, and their trade of Darrelle Revis allowed them to get another 1st round pick this year. This is their original selection, and it could go a long way in replacing the dominant cover corner they are losing in Revis.

Many people believe Millinier is the next Revis. He’s very physical at the point of attack and has terrific cover corner skills. Alabama plays a lot of man coverage and that’s probably what made him so attractive to Rex Ryan and the Jets. While his tackling could use some help, he is a very physical hitter and looks to deliver big hits on receivers across the middle. He’s a perfect fit for what the Jets want to do on defense. I really like this pick by the Jets, and it really wasn’t all that surprising when Milliner became available to them.

The 2012 season for the Jets was a disaster. The Tim Tebow project was a massive failure. All it did was create an unnecessary distraction and pulled the team apart, leaving them no hope for having a successful season. Ryan seemed to never want Tebow at all, and the team should just get rid of him and move on.

In my opinion, Ryan should consider himself lucky he still has a job, but he’ll have another year to prove he can turn around this circus that was the Jets’ 2012 season.
