Postseason Victory With Denver Broncos Remains Biggest Part of Tim Tebow Legacy

One of the cruelest jokes in pro sports is the fact that in one year with the Denver Broncos, Tim Tebow won more playoff games for Denver than Peyton Manning did in his one year with the organization. One of those quarterbacks is one of the best to ever suit up while Tebow is more than likely going to be out of the sport. The NFL is a cruel place, and the “Not For Long” slogan is all too familiar for Tebow.

In circles outside of the Florida Gators fan base, Tebow was mocked profusely and the art of “Tebowing” garnered more attention than his actual play on the field. All the antics aside, Tebow’s production on the field is what we should remember about the Heisman trophy winner.

Denver was 1-2 with Kyle Orton at the helm in 2011-12. When week four rolled around head coach John Fox put Tebow under center and the ex-Gator captivated the nation by snapping off seven victories in eight starts. In addition, Tebow was 3-0 versus his division in that stretch which would be crucial to the Broncos reaching the playoffs and receiving home field advantage in the first round.

316 passing yards and two touchdowns in the AFC playoff game in January of 2012 is what will always be Tebow’s best game as a professional. Not to mention, the always dramatic quarterback capped off the first round battle with a game winning pass on the first play of overtime. The mantra that proceeded was that Tebow found a way to win, however that is not what makes the money in the NFL.

Tebow was made a media darling, but it looks like the days of him bolting down the field and advancing in the NFL postseason are gone.
