TV Schedule: Sunday, Sept. 28, 1:00 p.m. ET, FOX

Stadium: MetLife Stadium

Line: Detroit (-1.5)

The Detroit Lions have been up and down this year, but inconsistency can be expected this early in the season. Regardless, the Lions are 2-1 and they are also tied for the lead in the NFC North.

Although every game is different, it’s important to note that the New York Jets — the Lions’ next opponent — lost to Green Bay in Week 2, while Detroit beat the Packers in Week 3.

New York has been competitive in every game despite having a 1-2 record.

The running game continues to carry the load, but Geno Smith hasn’t been horrible through three weeks. Chris Johnson and Chris Ivory make up a two-headed monster that no one should want to face. Ivory has 189 yards on the ground and Johnson 123. The running game as a whole ranks second in the NFL with an average of 157.3 rushing yards per game.

With that said, Detroit is only giving up 63.7 yards per game — something has to give.

I have to give the edge to the Lions. Not only because they have the line, but because their passing attack can be lethal. QB Matthew Stafford and WR Calvin Johnson clearly have a lot to do with that. Not to mention, the Jets don’t have the best passing game in the league, and you could say they are one-dimensional on the offensive side of the ball.

Smith isn’t the worst QB in the NFL, but he certainly is no Peyton Manning — not many players are. The fans of the Jets will at least have their back, though, since this contest is being played at MetLife Stadium.

PREDICTION: Lions 20, Jets 14
