The New York Jets are a team desperate for a win and the San Diego Chargers stand in their way. Does Geno Smith and company have what it takes to grab a big win on the road? Check out some of my bold predictions for the Week 5 matchup between the Jets and Chargers.

5. Geno Smith Doesn't Turn the Ball Over

Smith has been a turnover machine early on in the 2014 season. The Jets' QB has five interceptions in four games and he has thrown a pick in every game this season. Smith knows that he needs to limit his turnovers and I think he will play a lot better against the Chargers. It's pretty much do or die for Smith because if he doesn't turn it around soon, Michael Vick is waiting on the sideline.

The Chargers' No. 1 wide receiver broke out last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a 10 catches for 135 receiving yards. The 22-year-old had a huge season in 2013 and was slow to start 2014, but he's ready to roll now. Allen gets to go against a poor Jets' secondary that allowed some big numbers to the Lions WR Golden Tate in Week 4. The Jets present a great matchup for Allen and he should be ready to take advantage of it.

3. Chris Johnson Has a Breakout Game

Johnson hasn't lost speed or his ability to make people miss in open space; it just seems as if he can't find the right running lanes. Often, Johnson is bottled up behind the line of scrimmage for one to two yards on every play and the Jets need more production from him. The Jets need Johnson to play well so it can open up their offense, spread the field and help out QB Geno Smith.

2. Philip Rivers Throws For 350 Yards

Going into Week 5, Rivers holds a crazy touchdown-to-interception ratio with nine to one. Luckily for Rivers, he gets to go up against a Jets' secondary that has been awful against the pass this year. The Chargers' rushing game has been non-existent thus far and the offense will rely heavily on Rivers' arm to lead them against a strong Jets' run defense. I'm predicting a huge game for Rivers and a lot of points for the Chargers.

In the Jets' three losses this season, all of them have been by one possession. The Jets' defense held up against a top-notch Bears' and Lions' offense and I expect them to do the same against the Chargers. The game is going to fall on the Jets' Geno Smith and his ability to command the team down the field and score six instead of three. If the Jets can match the Chargers on offense, it will be a close game until the very end.
