Who knew that Aaron Rodgers would pull a Dan Marino against the Miami Dolphins? With a fake-spike on the game-winning drive, Rodgers showed once more this Sunday why he is the most creative quarterback in the league and should get consideration in MVP voting.
The QB led an impressive comeback victory for the Green Bay Packers, and he ended it in truly amazing fashion by throwing a four-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Quarless with only three seconds left. This came one play after Rodgers pulled off the fake-spike that turned into a 12-yard completion to Davante Adams and set up the game-winner. The rookie receiver finished with six catches for 77 yards, and it is clear he is becoming a favorite target for Rodgers.
The only blemish on the final drive was a third-down play where Rodgers fumbled the ball, but his offensive lineman, T.J. Lang, bailed him out on that one and recovered it. The QB then calmly converted the crucial fourth-down play.
He had previously been 0-3 in Florida, and it was only a matter of time before he broke that streak. Ryan Tannehill showed in this game why his coach has been considering benching the QB with two head-scratching interceptions in the first half, and it was actually a bit surprising Rodgers had to bring his team from behind after leading a nearly perfect opening drive.
Tannehill bounced back impressively and led touchdown drives of 80, 80 and 77 yards to get his team the lead. In the end, though, it was not enough against the most creative quarterback in the league.
