The Green Bay Packers got off to a rocky start to the season when they lost two of their first three games. Since then, they have been on an absolute tear. The Packers are one of the best teams in the NFC and continue to dominate in all phases of the game. In fact, there has been very little to complain about the past four weeks. That trend continued in Week 7 when Green Bay dismantled the Carolina Panthers.

Packers safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix has performed well enough all season to be placed in the starting lineup, but it wasn’t until Week 7 that he actually got the privilege of doing so. Clinton-Dix didn’t disappoint his coaches for giving him the honor as he led the game with nine tackles. What is most obvious about his style of play is that there’s no player on the roster who hits harder and is a more efficient tackler than he is.

Green Bay has taken plenty of flak over the past several years due to their embarrassing inability to tackle the way professional football players should be able to do. In fact, there were playoff games lost in 2011 and 2012 for that very reason. However, the Packers of 2014 are a completely different story. The tackling has been superb. It’s a part of the game that must be talked about with Green Bay sitting at a 5-2 record.

Jordy Nelson may lead the NFL in receiving yards (712), but Randall Cobb is quickly proving himself to be one of the best receivers in the league this season. Cobb leads the league in touchdown receptions (eight). He also has 35 receptions, 452 receiving yards and eight catches of 20 yards or more. Nelson still deserves to be the talk of the town, especially since he’s averaged 101.7 receiving yards per game and ranks second with six touchdowns.

There are several great players this season, but few can argue that they have been more productive than Aaron Rodgers has been through seven games. The superstar quarterback has an impressive 18 touchdown to one interception ratio that is flat out mindboggling. He also has a remarkable 117.3 passer rating, which is good for second in the league. Rodgers still has plenty to accomplish before he can be crowned NFL MVP, but he’s well on his way.

The argument can be made that the Dallas Cowboys (6-1) are the class of the NFC in 2014. However, I believe the Packers are the true powerhouse in the conference this season. Green Bay is averaging 28.4 points per game, and they rank second in the league with 10 interceptions. More importantly, they rarely turn the ball over. All of which is a recipe for success in the NFL.
