Finally.

It took until the seventh game of the season but the Eagles finally turned in their most complete performance of the season, dismantling the Dallas Cowboys 34-7 before a national audience on prime-time football.

The offense was incredible.

Michael Vick completed 21 of 28 passes for 279 yards and two touchdowns. (He also ran seven times for 50 yards.) He did not throw an interception. And he spread the ball out beautifully.

Tight end Brent Celek led the way with seven catches for 93 yards and a touchdown. Jason Avant caught five passes for 74 yards. Jeremy Maclin caught three for 54 and a score.

But the real hero was running back LeSean McCoy. McCoy turned in arguably his finest game as a professional football player. He carried 30 times for 185 yards and a pair of scores, putting him atop the NFL’s rushing yards list for the 2011 season.

His 185 yards stands as the sixth highest single-game rushing total in Eagles history (more than Brian Westbrook ever rushed for in a game). And of course, credit for McCoy’s performance goes out to the whole offensive line, notably right tackle Todd Herremans.

The defense was just as dominant as the offense.

Tony Romo completed just 18 of 35 passes for 203 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Take away his meaningless 70-yard touchdown to Laurent Robinson late in the game, and the Cowboys’ quarterback posted a passer rating of 47.8 instead of 66.7. He was also sacked four times (twice by Jason Babin, once by Trent Cole, and once by Trevor Laws).

Oh, and big-play wide receiver Dez Bryant caught just three passes for 28 yards, including none in the first half. Miles Austin caught three passes for 27 yards. And Jason Witten caught only four passes for 28 yards, despite being targeted 12 times.

It was the best performance of the season for Nnamdi Asomugha, who helped to cover the Cowboys’ receivers, and tight end Jason Witten, as well as linebacker Jamar Chaney, who also helped to cover Witten.

The run defense wasn’t great but thankfully it wasn’t tested very much. A week after gashing the Rams for 253 yards, Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray carried just eight times for 74 yards.

The victory put the Eagles into second place in the NFC East, despite a 3-4 record. They will host the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football next week.

I normally don’t like watching such a lopsided game, but since it was the Eagles spanking the Cowboys on prime time I didn’t miss a snap!!!
