It’s Official: Broncos Name Tim Tebow Starting QB For Week 7 Against Dolphins
It looks like all of that money invested in billboards by Denver Broncos fans will finally pay off after John Fox announced on Tuesday that Tim Tebow will be the team’s new starting quarterback, according to ESPN.com. News broke on Monday that Fox was expected to name Tebow the starter, the head coach indicated he would let his staff know before the actual media.
Tebow made quite the case to win the starting job over Kyle Orton after sparking the offense in the team’s 29-24 loss to the San Diego Chargers on Sunday. After Orton was benched following a 6 of 13 performance for 34 yards, Tebow ran for a touchdown while throwing for another through the air and nearly led the Broncos to what would have been an impressive come from behind win–but their late rally fell short on the final drive.
After a disappointing 1-4 start, there was no reason for Fox to stick with Orton considering he’s done nothing significant to set himself apart from Tebow. If Tebow and the offense can play like they did in the second half of Sunday’s game against the Chargers, maybe the Broncos will finally start winning some games.
