When Calvin Johnson takes the field on Sunday, he will be facing a Larry Fitzgerald-led team for the fourth time in his career. Johnson is routinely called the best wide receiver in the NFL, but Fitzgerald caught two touchdowns in Week 1 and showed us all that he isn’t quite ready to give away that title just yet. When asked about Johnson’s dominance as of late, Fitzgerald told reporters that “Calvin’s the best. I mean, look at his numbers. It is what it is.”
As I was saying, the Arizona Cardinals‘ wide out doesn’t sound too thrilled that Johnson has slowly overtaken a role that used to belong to Fitzgerald. Luckily, the two All-Pro wide receivers will be going toe-to-toe on Sunday for just the third time in their careers.
Believe it or not, the Detroit Lions are not favored in the game, despite reeling off an impressive Week 1 victory over the surging Minnesota Vikings. The last three times that the Cards and Lions have squared off, the results haven’t been pretty for Detroit as it has dropped all three games by a combined score of 45. To make matters worse, Johnson has been outplayed by Fitzgerald for the most part as the Arizona standout has three touchdowns and 132 yards receiving against the Johnson-led Lions, while “Megatron” has yet to catch a touchdown against the Cards in his career.
