Jayson Werth might be out quite awhile if the tests on his wrist come back the way I think they will after watching that sliding attempt. In the 6th inning of the Sunday night game between the Washington Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies, Jayson Werth came sprinting in to try and make a sliding catch. Unfortunately, his wrist didn’t come with him and was bent back in a really awkward angle . He immediately grabbed at the wrist, and was taken out of the game right away.

This could be a huge loss for the Nationals if this is a serious injury. Jayson Werth is a mainstay in the middle of the order, and could be a devastating loss for a team playing so well. This could force the Nationals to make a move near the trade deadline because I don’t know if they’ll be able to survive if these injuries continue to mount.

In 2005, he was hit by a pitch on that same wrist by AJ Burnett and missed the entire 2006 season. Hopefully this won’t be a season ending injury and he’ll be back soon. He’s a fun player to watch. Okay, I’m a little biased. I have him on a few fantasy teams so- I really need him to come back healthy as soon as possible.
