The Baltimore Ravens met with offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie a few weeks ago and came out of the meeting optimistic about McKinnie regarding his weight. However, McKinnie is in the same shape that he was in last season according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Team officials were hoping that McKinnie would have at least dropped a few pounds coming into the season being that he is listed at 360 pounds and came into Minnesota Vikings camp last season at a near 400 pounds. The only positive you can take from McKinnie is that he did not gain any weight. The Ravens are still trying to push McKinnie to get into better shape before the season starts.

McKinnie should not be surprised if he ends up losing his job. The team seems to be high on Ramon Harewood, who was injured all of last season. Harewood was drafted our of Morehead State in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft but since then has some major troubles with his knees.

Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun wrote that you should not be surprised if the Ravens to end up taking an offensive lineman in this year’s NFL draft to help out with the line that seems to be capsizing. The Ravens only have one other offensive tackle other than McKinnie or Harewood on the roster and that is Michael Oher. Marshal Yanda could also see time at tackle or guard this season.
