Fantasy Football: Top 5 Waiver Wire Defenses For Week 4

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' offense has been miserable so far this year. Yes, the Pittsburgh Steelers are banged up on defense; injuries to Ike Taylor, Ryan Shazier and Jarvis Jones definitely hurt. That being said, Tampa Bay is transitioning to Mike Glennon at QB, their offensive line is dreadful and a banged up Doug Martin could be spearheading the rushing attack. If you need a bye-week fill-in, the Steelers offer safety with a little upside.

The Detroit Lions' D/ST is second in fantasy football, averaging 10.3 fantasy points per game. This week they get to face an inconsistent-at-best New York Jets offense that allowed 12 fantasy points to the Chicago Bears D/ST on Monday night. Detroit’s front four is one of the best in the league, so they should have no issue disrupting Geno Smith and creating havoc on Sunday.

The Miami Dolphins' D/ST has put up double digit fantasy points in two of the first three weeks this season, and in Week 4 they get to take on an Oakland Raiders team that is averaging the fewest yards per game (254.3) and the fewest points per game (12.3). They’ve also only scored just one touchdown outside of garbage time all season, it came in the first quarter of Week 1. The Dolphins are one of the safest D/ST in Week 4.

The Buffalo Bills have been very effective against the run this season, allowing just 83.7 yards per game and 3.3 yards per carry. If Arian Foster is unable to suit up this week, the Texans will likely be forced to attack through the air with former Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, who threw three picks last week. Buffalo is a very strong bye-week fill-in defense.

The San Diego Chargers get to face the woeful Jacksonville Jaguars at home this weekend. The Jaguars have given up 14, 18 and 17 points to opposing defenses so far this season.
