Fantasy Football Week 6 Sleeper: Justin Hunter
It finally happened! Justin Hunter did something productive for both the Tennessee Titans and for your fantasy football team. Handshakes and pats on the backs all around.
Last week against the Cleveland Browns, Hunter caught only three passes but for 99 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown. Hunter led all Titans receivers in snaps and it seems he has finally arrived for the big times in this offense.
This sudden production couldn’t have come at a better time for Hunter. The Titans go up against the Jacksonville Jaguars this weekend and this matchup should have every fantasy owner drooling since the Jags’ defense has been simply handing points to opposing wide receivers.
Currently, the Titans are struggling with a quarterback issue, with starter Jake Locker still recovering from his injury last weekend. But even if he doesn’t start, backup Charlie Whitehurst and his gorgeous locks have proven to have good chemistry with Hunter, so either way I’d expect Hunter to have a big game against the pitiful Jaguars defense.
All this being said, there is a reason Hunter is a sleeper and not a must-start. Hunter is a boom-or-bust guy which is more frustrating to fantasy owners than listening to “Friday” by Rebecca Black on repeat. Hunter is a big-time receiver but his play style relies on the big play. He’ll end the game with four to five catches, it’s just whether those catches go for 100-plus yards and two touchdowns, or for 25 yards.
If you’re in need of a WR2 or a flex option, Justin Hunter is certainly worth the risk.
