The Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Royals were forced to postpone their series opener on Friday night while the city was on lockdown. The authorities shutdown the city of Boston while they searched for, and eventually apprehended, the second suspect of the Boston Marathon bombing on Monday.

The Red Sox announced on Saturday they would play the postponed game on Sunday evening as part of a doubleheader, with the postponed game starting at 7:00 p.m. eastern time. The team also announced after Saturday afternoon’s victory they would be starting minor league prospect Allen Webster during the second game of the doubleheader on Sunday.

Webster was a part of the mega-trade which involved sending Adrian GonzalezCarl Crawford and Josh Beckett to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Following spring training, the prospect was sent to Triple-A Pawtucket where he started the season. In two games for the Pawtucket Red Sox, the 23-year-old has posted a 0.90 ERA with 12 strikeouts over 10 innings of play. However, his team was unable to get the offense going and while he only gave up a single earned run, he was unable to get a victory this season.

The Red Sox are happy to have, what Baseball America says is the 49th best prospect in the MLB, on their major league roster and hope he can contribute out of the gate on Sunday evening.

First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m., but will start based on when the first game ends. Take a trip to Fenway Park or tune in on television to see one of the Red Sox top prospects make his major league debut!
