Phil Jackson Reportedly Uninterested in Brooklyn Nets Coaching Vacancy

Two years have gone by since Phil Jackson last stalked the sidelines as a head coach. The 2013 off-season has already begun for all but eight teams and the rumors circling Jackson have simply been continuous to say the least.

Jackson has been connected to a number of coaching vacancies and organizations, but he doesn’t seem to be interested in any. Jackson was recently hired by the Detroit Pistons to serve as an adviser in the team’s search for a new head coach of their own, but that’s pretty much been it.

On Tuesday afternoon, Jackson shot down the rumors between him and the Brooklyn Nets after the organization made it clear that he was their top target to replace P.J. Carlesimo. Jackson’s most recent rejection certainly comes as no surprise, simply because of how things have panned out thus far this off-season.

It seems like every few days there is a new team that is linked to Jackson, but just as that rumor begins to get some sort of attention, a new team and a new rumor sprouts up. The end result — the same dead end wall. Jackson could have any coaching job in the NBA, but he seemingly is uninterested, so why the continued attention?

It has repeatedly been speculated that Jackson could be interested in a front office position, but those are not coming nearly as quickly as the coaching rumors.

Whelp, scratch Brooklyn off the list of potential suitors that were hoping to woo Jackson to their sidelines.

On to the next rumor.
