New York Giants Have Offense Turned Around

Remember when we were all wondering whether the New York Giants were washed up after a very bad preseason?

You remember August – Eli Manning looked lost. The running game looked awful. The receivers couldn’t catch passes. All along, Giants fans may have wondered whether bringing in Ben McAdoo as offensive coordinator was the wise thing to do.

One month later, the Giants may have turned things around.

In the past two weeks, New York has resembled its old self on offense. Manning doesn’t look like he’s entirely crisp yet, but the Giants look a whole lot better than they did in the first couple weeks of the season.

Last week, Manning picked apart the Washington Redskins and made the team look like it had taken five steps back. This week, Manning silenced the Atlanta Falcons with a pair of touchdown passes and over 200 yards.

His cast of characters looks a little different from before. Instead of Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks, the Giants have Reuben Randle, Preston Parker and Odell Beckham Jr. Cruz is still around, but he isn’t as visible as in previous seasons. That may not be a bad thing if it means a diversified offense.

Speaking of diversity on offense, the Giants look like they have a running game. Andre Williams and Rashad Jennings led the rushing attack and as a result, the Falcons didn’t have an answer on who to stop.

Time will tell whether switching to McAdoo was the right thing to do. It doesn’t look like the disaster it once did. As it is now, the Giants are only one game behind the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys in what looks like a highly competitive NFC East.

Manning may not have the gaudy numbers his brother, Peyton Manning, puts up weekly, but what he has now is an offense. That just might help the Giants.
