Beginning a high-profile feud against John Cena appeared to be the best thing that could have happened to Bray Wyatt. He called Cena out for his hypocritical nature and did everything he could to try to drive the monster out of the man who he believed was lying to the entire world. As it turns out, the men had a disjointed and disappointing match at WrestleMania that tried to tell a good story but ultimately fell flat. From that point forward, the Cena vs. Wyatt rivalry spun out of control and by the time it was complete, there was no rhyme or reason as to why they were fighting and Bray Wyatt ended up in a lesser position on the card than he was at when the rivalry began. From the very beginning, Wyatt’s feud with Chris Jericho was muddled. Wyatt complained about Jericho claiming he was the savior of WWE and Y2J responded, essentially, by saying “yeah, well shut up jerk, I’m gonna kick your ***.” They tried that face-to-face pre-taped interview that was supposed to be intense and full of tension, but Jericho’s response, while delivered in a very intense manner, actually meant less than the crap Wyatt spouted, which has made less and less sense as time has gone by. The men had a couple of good matches, including a very strong cage match on an episode of Monday Night RAW, but that was the end of Wyatt’s time in the spotlight. The same goes for Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. They had a series of fantastic tag team matches, especially against The Usos, but never ended up winning the Tag Team Championship that everybody expected they would. Since they ended their feud at the end of the summer, Harper and Rowan have been just as scarce as Wyatt himself. Maybe this has been the plan all along. I’m convinced that the losses Cody Rhodes and Goldust experienced, followed by Cody selecting terrible partners for his brother and some time off TV in general, was completely planned and that Stardust was the intended endgame from the beginning. I don’t know why I believe that, but I’m giving the creative team the benefit of the doubt. Thus, the absence of the Wyatts may indeed be the plan that is going to lead to their split. With the split of the Wyatt Family essentially inevitable, especially with reports recently alleging that it’s set to be the case, the promo video for Harper on RAW that showed Wyatt “setting him free” appears to set up Harper going out on his own. Harper, hopefully, will see the true light at the end of the tunnel and channel that into a feud with Bray Wyatt that one would expect to get both men back into the eyes of the public and make them relevant, but it does possibly leave Rowan out in the cold. We may end up seeing Rowan stick with Wyatt until Harper defeats him to get to Bray, but that may lead to the demise of Rowan for the time being, possibly to be rebuilt or even repackaged down in NXT. There are plenty of guys he can form a tag team with — maybe Colin Cassady. I bet with some conditioner Rowan’s beard could be quite SAWFT. The Wyatt Family, sadly, are on their last legs. They had a good run, but looking back I think it will be remembered as a slight disappointment. In the summer it looked like they had a good chance of winning the two top titles in WWE (World and Tag), but when that didn’t materialize it all fell apart. Maybe when he loses Harper and Rowan, Bray will begin a spiral deeper into madness and finally reveal the truth about Sister Abigail; it could lead to the debut of one of the women down in NXT as the embodiment of what we assume to be his long deceased sister and breathe new life into the Bray Wyatt character.
