$1 Million Donated to Veterans’ Assistance Fund by Jacksonville Jaguars

While the Jacksonville Jaguars may have struggled on the field over the past few NFL seasons, they have rarely missed an opportunity to give back to the community that supports them.

It has been announced the Jaguars organization has donated $1 million to a veterans’ assistance fund which help military personnel become re-acclimated to civilian life when they return home from duty.

New Jags owner Shahid Khan has made a strong impression in Jacksonville as a philanthropist through his various business ventures– and sweet handlebar mustache– and this is one of his best gestures so far.

The Jaguars plan on taking an active role in this venture which helps military members and their families find housing if necessary, access job training, and even help clothe and feed those who need the greatest measure of help.

It’s easy for us to forget we are still at war in Afghanistan, and with tensions escalating in the Middle East, could be involved in another protracted conflict before we know it.

As one war ends, another is in its infancy stages. History has proven this time and again.

Every little bit helps military families who are so often burdened by the distance which conflict creates and the forced single-parent households which are a result of the call of duty.

When those who have plenty give do so to a cause like this veterans’ assistance fund, they are rewarded with something well beyond additional revenue.

Goodwill.

In today’s NFL, goodwill can go a long way.

Shahid Khan has it coming back in spades.
