2014 Fantasy Baseball: 5 Shrewd Plays For July 29

This veteran has been quite productive the past three weeks. Rollins has recorded at least one hit in 12 of his last 16 games along with five HRs and 14 RBIs over that span. The Phillies will face starter Dillon Gee this evening, and that should be more good news for Rollins. Gee has allowed 10 earned runs over his last 10 innings of work, and in 22 career at-bats, Rollins sports a fantastic .500 average against him.

Jaso has been cooking up some offense of late with an outstanding .380 average and 14 RBIs over his past 15 games. It's never a bad idea to give him a whirl when the A's take on a right-hander, and that just so happens to be the case today. Scott Feldman and the Houston Astros will be the opponent, and to go along with an undesirable 4.60 ERA, Feldman is allowing lefties to bat .304 on the season.

The Dodgers' pricey first baseman can be quite streaky at the dish, and it would seem he's in the zone right now. Gonzalez has posted four multi-hit efforts over his past six games, and that includes five extra-base hits to go along with seven RBIs. He'll face the right-handed Aaron Harang this evening, and though Harang is having a nice season, Gonzalez has owned him to the tune of a .412 average with three HRs in 17 career at-bats.

I think we can safely assume that this fellow is no flash in the pan. His average now sits at a healthy .328 on the season, and he's posted five multi-hit performances over his last 12 games. Matchups don't get much better for him than today's, so be sure to take advantage. The Rockies will face starter Edwin Jackson tonight, and to go along with a horrific 5.76 ERA, he's allowing lefties to bat a ridiculous .332 on the season.

The Padres aren't a very good team, but this hurler may be their diamond in the rough. Ross has posted an excellent 2.65 ERA on the season, but over his past seven starts, that number sits at a phenomenal 1.47 to go along with an impressive 53 Ks over 49 innings. He'll face a St. Louis Cardinals team this evening that ranks 29th in the league in runs per game and have lost four of their last six contests.
