San Francisco Giants Hope Ryan Vogelsong Can Keep Win Streak Alive

To say that San Francisco Giants starter Ryan Vogelsong has struggled early this season would be a tad understating the situation. He continues to go out and try his best and each time he has given up quite a few runs. In his best start of the season he still gave up three runs. All of the others have seen more than that cross the plate. Going into tonight’s Los Angeles Dodgers game, the Giants are on a streak of their own. Theirs however is a good one. Either Vogelsong’s streak of bad outings or the Giants winning streak figures to end tonight; which will it be?

Vogelsong could be a decent matchup for the Dodgers who aren’t exactly knocking the cover off of the baseball this season. As a matter of fact they are at or near the bottom in most offensive categories. For Vogelsong then, they could be a site for sore eyes as he tries to get his pitching performance back on track and help the winning streak stay intact. On the other hand there is something to be said for a pitcher’s bad luck ending streaks.

The absolute best thing going for Vogelsong tonight isn’t the Dodgers lack of run scoring ability; it is his team’s streak. When a team is on a winning streak, everything goes right. I don’t have to tell you then that chances are, if Vogelsong’s bad streak of games was going to end it would be tonight. Time will tell as the game is already started but I would pick the Giants if I were a betting man. Whether Vogelsong will get the win or not, who knows? After all it is possible for him to have a bad outing and for the Giants to still win.
