San Diego Padres Continue to Play Extremely Good Baseball

chase headley Padres

I am about to say something that would have been shocking just a few weeks ago. The San Diego Padres are the hottest team in the National League at the very least. They in fact might be the hottest team in all of baseball. I know some of you are wondering if I have lost it. That answer is up in the air but the fact of the Padres playing great baseball is not. It is a fact and I am going to prove it once again. Here we go.

On April 23, 2013 the Padres were 5 – 15 and a drastic 8 games out of first place. Their entire being was in shambles as the most decorated thing that had happened was the thug-like fight with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Then something changed. Since that date the Padres are 11 – 3. Did you catch that or do you need to read it again? They have only lost three of their last 14 games. Not only that but they now, just two weeks later have cut the distance to first in half and are only 4 games behind the first place teams of the National League West.

If this trend continues and it frankly looks like it will, the Padres could be the team we talk about the other Western teams chasing by the all-star break. I mean that is actually possible and I don’t know about you but I know I didn’t think that was likely this year. Then again who picked the Colorado Rockies to play well? I guess the NL West is completely up for grabs at the moment. Don’t be surprised if the team still standing at the end winds up being the San Diego Padres.
