Utah Utes Unveil New Black Helmets In All-Black Alternate Uniforms

Russ Isabella – US PRESSWIRE

The Utah Utes are coming off a high after their wild, last-second win in the Holy War over the rival BYU Cougars. They feel confident heading into Pac 12 conference play this weekend against the Arizona State Sun Devils, which seemed as good a time as any to unveil some new threads.

The all-black alternates come courtesy of Under-Armour and were unveiled last night on the Utes official Twitter page. They will be worn at some point this season, maybe when a certain Pac 12 power in the USC Trojans comes to town for a Thursday showdown October 4?

So how do they look? Well, Utah isn’t going to match the flashiness of the Oregon Ducks anytime soon, and thank goodness. The design is a classic “black-out” look that teams have gone to over the years for an exciting alternate jersey in big games. The matte black helmet with red decal looks very sharp and the red accents on the all-black uniforms will really stand out. Plus, the allusions to Batman never hurt.

All in all, it’s a great look that will add some extra excitement into whichever game the team rolls these out for. It would make the sense to bring them out against USC, though. A nationally televised game on ESPN on a Thursday when there’s nothing else to be watching? When all eyes are on you, that’s the perfect time to make a splash, which these uniforms will accomplish.

Most importantly, the new duds will add another level of electricity to the stadium when the team comes out in their all-blacks. There are few things a crowd goes crazy for more than a good looking alternate uniform.

So good work Utah Utes on a very nice alternate uniform that’s approved by Gotham city’s number one crime fighter.
