Bayern Munich’s Pep Guardiola: Will he Ruin the Beautiful German Game?

After hammering Barcelona two weeks in a row, Bayern Munich are set for their second-straight Champions League final appearance. The man the Germans have to thank for that besides their players is their mastermind of a coach, Jupp Heynckes … who will be gone at season’s end.

He taught them to play near-perfect defense, midfield, and offense. The fact that he is leaving might end up being a huge blow for German soccer.

No team has ever gone to the Camp Nou and dominated the Catalans on the offensive end. Barca sent a number of shot, but only one or two truly threatened the Bayern keeper, Manuel Neuer. The Germans scored three goals and could have had more. Their dominant ground/air passing, perfectly timed defense, and calm give and go sequences under pressure all worked admirably.

Their dominant style destroyed the one-time successful Tiki-Taka style invented by former Barca and new Bayern head coach, Pep Guardiola. The question is this: will Guardiola bring his Tika-Taka style to interfere or completely change the beautiful German game?

Honestly, if he does, it will be a true shame. Munich have made three UCL finals in the last four years including this one. This year, after losing last season’s finale at home to Chelsea after penalties, they want to be the first German team to win it in an all-German final. To be frank, it is more than possible.

Munich beat out Borussia Dortmund to the Bundesliga and have eliminated their rivals from the DFB Pokal (German Cup). If they truly want to be the best German club, they have to defeat Dortmund when it matters most: on May 25 in the Finale.
