Week 12 Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: Large Leagues

The fantasy season is in full swing, making free agency as important as ever. Below are my fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups for large leagues in week 12:

Large Leagues: 10-14 man leagues

C Rod Barajas, PIT – Barajas has really been squaring the bat lately at the plate, which was clearly evident during his 3-run jack against the Orioles on Thursday night.  He can provide some power in deeper leagues for owners in desperate need of a backstop.

1B Mitch Moreland, TEX – Moreland has crushed 2 homers in the last six games and is in the middle of one of the most protected lineups in the league.

2B Jamey Carroll, MIN – Carroll has registered 10 hits in his last six games and is currently hitting everything that comes across the plate.  He is a great find in deeper leagues and will at least be a great reserve player from here on out.

3B Todd Frazier, CIN – Frazier has 13 hits in his last thirteen games. He has also driven in 9 runs, hit 2 homers, and drew 7 walks.  Frazier is finally getting everyday playing in the Queen City and will get tons of RBI chances with the heavy hitting Reds’ bats in front of him.

SS Everth Cabrera, SD – Cabrera missed some time this last because he was in court for a domestic violence charge stemming from a March arrest. Cabrera was in turn dropped by a good amount of leagues due to the guaranteed missed time in week 11.  He will be a good find for an owner who needs a shortstop but has a low the waiver wire priority this week.

OF Ben Revere, MIN – Revere has amazingly racked up 41 hits in his 31 contests this year and has been the spark at the top of the lineup that the team has been looking for.  Revere has earned a starting spot in the Twins’ outfield and is one of the only sticks in their lineup showing signs of life at all.

OF Norichika Aoki, MIL – In his last ten games Aoki has 14 hits, including a game last week where he drilled two solo-home runs.  Aoki will stay in the lineup while his bat is hot, so desperate fantasy owners should do the same.

SP Randall Delgado, ATL – In his last eight starts, Delgado has really settled down. He started May with a nasty 6.30 ERA, but has lowered it to a manageable 4.12 over the last month and half.  The 22-year is finally looking like the prospect the Braves have coveted for so long.

SP Garrett Richards, LAA – Richards pitched a gem on Sunday afternoon, as he went 8 innings in a 2-0 victory over the Diamondbacks.  He wants to stay in the rotation when starter, Jered Weaver, comes back from injury in a couple weeks, and Richards certainly will keep his job if he stays this hot.

RP Carlos Marmol, CHC – The “Marshmallow” has been named the team’s closer again, after being demoted earlier in the year for basically being out of shape.  Manager Dale Sveum is finally satisfied with the shape he is in and has given him the ball in the ninth inning again.  However, since he was demoted once this year, he will likely have an extremely short leash.
